7,000 people enjoy fabulous Bakkavor Fun Weekend in Spalding

An estimated 7,000 people made Bakkavor’s 30th anniversary fun weekend an event to remember.

Employees and families from across the business nationally were joined by many people from the South Holland community for two days of fun at Springfields Events Centre in Spalding last Saturday and Sunday (July 23 and 24).

About 5,000 employees and families from as far as London, Crewe and Somerset took advantage of the attractions and fabulous weather.
And one employee from Weston-Super-Mare showed off his breakdancing to win the inaugural Bakkavor Has Got Talent final.

Roger Tuby’s fun fair rides were free during the daytime on Saturday and Sunday, and a world record in collective welly wanging was set.

A Party in the Park event on Saturday raised more than £5,000 in gate takings for charity, including Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.
Three tribute bands – 80s Experience, Rule The World (Take That) and One Direction Experience – had people singing and dancing throughout the night, culminating in a big fireworks display.

Delighted chairman of the Bakkavor Fun Weekend committee, Terry Moore, said: “We try to make it so there’s something for everyone.
“It’s a weather dependent event and we were extremely lucky that it was absolutely fantastic.

“I might be biased but I’m pleased with the professionalism and the standard we have got in bringing together the fun fair, the bands, Springfields Events Centre people and the security staff. We all work as a really good team.”
