South Holland duo set for 145 mile charity bike ride from London to Amsterdam

Two men from South Holland are gearing up for a whopping 145-mile bike ride from London to Amsterdam in a bid to raise money for charity.

Tim Tomizzi and Jamie Redden are taking part in the Prostate Cancer UK and Football League backed charity cycle ride from the Olympic Park in Stratford to the Ajax football stadium in Amsterdam.

Ex-footballers Terry Butcher, Viv Anderson, Luther Blissett and Titus Bramble – among others – will join the lads on the ride.

The ultimate goal is to help Men United raise over £500,000, with Tomizzi and Redden hoping to contribute at least £3,000 of that.

They’ve been backed by League One side Peterborough United and have put in six months of gruelling training ahead of their two-day ride.

Tomizzi said: “It is going to be a very challenging ride – but one we are both looking forward to.

“We have put in six months of training for the event and covered a number of miles across South Holland.

“The challenge is going to be enjoyable, though, meeting a lot of new people including Terry Butcher and Viv Anderson.

“It is a great charity to support and we have found a new love for cycling, which we hope to continue after the event. The fitness side to it has been good for us both.

“We would like to thank everyone who has donated so far, including a race night held at Sutton St James Indoor Bowls Club which raised over £1,200 for the cause.

“As it stands we are looking to have a combined total of around £3,000. We would also like to thank Peterborough United for the help and support they have given.”
