Bull won a nail-biting Florida Cup final to deny Five Bells C a Holbeach and District Darts League treble on finals night last Friday.
In what was the first match of the night at Tigers Social Club, Bull’s Alex Gostic won a final-leg thriller to edge out the champions 10-9.
There was a similar story in the Skelton Cup final, with Division Two champions Long Sutton RBL beaten 9-6 by Hat and Feathers.
Both Bull and Hat and Feathers finished way behind their respective opponents in the final league standings.
Five Bells C did add to their trophy haul by landing the Tony Canham Cup fives gong. Barry Bell took the decisive leg in the final as the Division One winners saw off Five Bells B 3-2.
There was a title for Five Bells B, though, as Andy Hircock lifted the Division One singles crown. He saw off Sutton Bridge RBL’s John Denton in the semi-finals, throwing 17 and 18 dart legs.
Stu Seaton (Five Bells C) joined him in the final, having seen off team-mate Bell 2-0 in the other last four clash.
The final was a top notch affair, with both men hitting 180 maximums. But it was Hircock who prevailed 2-0.
Meanwhile, Long Sutton RBL B’s Nick Horspool took the Division Two singles title.
He edged out New Saracen Head A’s Alan ‘Lefty’ Wright 2-1 in the semis, before dispatching Kevin Newton (Long Sutton RBL A) 2-0 in the final. Newton had qualified with a 2-0 triumph over Tigers’ Brett Brothwell.
The other individual prize up for grabs was the ladies’ Peachey Cup. That went to Dawn McTavish (Long Sutton RBL B), who knocked off Lisa Merrison (Long Sutton RBL A) 2-1 in a cracking contest.
Both pairs finals were won in straight legs, with Hat and Feathers’ Tim Tomizzi and Shaun Thorpe defeating Merrison and Newton 2-0 in the Division One clash.
The Division Two prize went to Hircock and Loren Grimsey (Five Bells B). They had too much for Kelvin Crane and Roly Houghton (Horse and Groom B).
League secretary ‘Lefty’ said: “It was a great night of good darts. Many thanks to all involved.”
