Child hurt in Ayscoughfee aviary roof fall

A child suffered minor injuries after falling through the roof of an aviary at Spalding’s Ayscoughfee Gardens.

An area around the aviary remains fenced off while further investigations are carried out into the accident, which happened at around 5.30pm on Wednesday (April 13).

A spokesman for South Holland District Council said: “Ground staff were on site and called for medical assistance to deal with the injured party and we’ve subsequently been informed that the injuries sustained are minor.

“Access to the aviary roof is now fenced off while further inspections of the area are conducted.”

“The gardens remain open as usual.”

The matter is now under internal investigation.
