New life for Johnson Community Hospital’s summer ball – and quickly sells out

The annual Johnson Community Hospital ball will happen this year after “overwhelming” support for it to continue.

And to underline its popularity the 500 tickets have already sold out.

It had been announced that last year’s event would be the last, but the organising committee has been bolstered with new members and A Beach Ball will take place on Saturday, July 9.

The ball will once again raise money to directly support patients, visitors and staff, with proceeds divided between the hospital’s League of Friends and Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) Charitable Funds.

Ball organiser Sister Sally Brown said: “Following the announcement that 2015 would be the last ball, the committee was swamped with requests for it to continue.

“We are delighted that some new members came forward and were taken on to replace members that had indicated they were leaving and we are pleased to announce that the Johnson Hospital Ball will continue to raise further funds towards the chosen charities.”

The ball at Springfields Events and Conference Centre, Spalding, will include 80s tribute band The Wild Boys and Leo’s Promotions Disco.

Sally added: “We really hope to create a real seaside feel for the guests and while the dress code remains formal, we are allowing a slight twist for gentleman to brighten the night with Hawaiian shirts if they so wish.”

This will be the ball’s eighth year and to date it has raised more than £21,000.

A reserve list for returned tickets is in place and can be signed up for at www.johnsoncommunityhospital.com.
