Cheers! Spalding to get its first beer and music festival

The first-ever Spalding Beer and Music Festival is to take place in May.

The event at The Castle Sports Complex is being jointly run by Spalding and District Round Table and Spalding Ladies’ Circle.
Tablers have been working alongside well-known town musician Mark Le Sage and Priors Oven landlord Charlie Rawlings to stage the festival over Spring Bank Holiday weekend.

With the bar and music stage in a marquee in the sports hall, about 50 real ales will be on offer plus live bands. The family event will also include food stalls and attractions for children.
Proceeds will go to clubs, groups and sports supporting the youth of Spalding.

Round Table chairman Sam Nundy said: “The Spalding Round Table family (including Ladies’ Circle), supported by several local businesses and individuals, is very proud to be able to say that we will be hosting the first beer and music festival.
“Our national motto for Round Table is ‘Do More’ and we are trying to live up to this by hosting what we hope will become a well-loved annual event that local people enjoy.
“All the proceeds will go back into the local community through youth projects and organisations.”

Opening hours will be:

  • 6pm-11pm on Friday, May 27
  • noon-11pm on Saturday, May 28
  • noon-10pm on Sunday, May 29

Admission cost for adults will be £3 per day or £5 for a weekend wristband. Anyone aged 7-17 will get in for £1 and under-sevens’ entry is free.
Under-18s will only be allowed entry with an accompanying adult.

South Holland District Council, which owns the Castle complex, has been in talks with Round Table about the event for several months. Town centre manager Dennis Hannant is also supporting the venture.

Spalding Round Table has successfully run an annual boxing night for over 20 years, raising more than £200,000 for good causes.

  • Tablers are keen to attract a main sponsor for the event, and businesses to sponsor a beer keg for £100. Contact Sam on 07775 796120.
