Talented Spalding Gymnastics Club team show their mettle against tough opposition

Nine members of Spalding Gymnastics Club came home from an East Region competition in Colchester with a host of medals.

The competition proved very strong, with plenty of top clubs taking part.

The morning session saw Spalding’s Niamh Ruston win the bronze overall in her age group and also bag bronze on bars, while Caitlyn Keyzers also was in the medals with a silver on the floor.

The midday session, which was a level higher, saw Erin Hope perform admirably to win the bronze medal for vault in her age group. Also taking part were Abbie Stubbs and Darcy Orford, who competed in a younger age group.

The last round was lit up by Ruby Vertuccio, who won silver on bars, and Lucia Walker, who won the bronze on vault.

Also performing well in this age group was Maddie Freeman.

The final Spalding medal went to Alice Baxter, who won bronze on bars in her age group.

Spalding’s next event will be the Arabian European Competition at the end of November, with more than 300 children taking part.
