Spalding bowls ace Annie in fine form as England win series

Spalding Indoor Bowls Club ace Annie Dunham was part of the England team that won the ladies’ Test series against Scotland.

Held in Stanley, County Durham, the series was played over a best of 11-match format and consisted of two triples, three pairs and six singles.

Dunham narrowly lost her triples 2-1 in the tie-break, having won a set each, but she quickly registered points on the board for England in the pairs, this time winning a tie break 2-1.

Her singles match was slightly more straightforward, winning both sets to set England up for a grandstand finish.

Ely’s Ellen Faulkner won the deciding match to take the series 6-5.

discovered their form and pulled clear in the latter stages.

  • Spalding IBC B were beaten 101-80 at home by Sleaford in Division Two of the men’s county league.

Sleaford didn’t take long to adjust to the green at the Castle and they showed top form throughout.

Captain on the day was Ron Walpole.
