Proposal to establish used furniture store in Spalding

A Spalding charity is hoping to raise funds and offer volunteer working opportunities by opening a secondhand furniture store.

The Lighthouse Project has applied to South Holland District Council for a change of use for a unit at Broadgate House in Westlode Street.

A statement with a planning application lodged with South Holland District Council said: “Unwanted furniture will be collected by Lighthouse from anywhere within the South Holland district and sold in the unit at “affordable” prices, thus reducing landfill and allowing those on limited budgets to furnish their homes.

“The store would allow opportunities for volunteer work within it; on the rounds collecting furniture and delivering purchased furniture.”
