On-song Kieran wins winter series motocross title with final round hat-trick

Young gun Kieran Rudd was crowned champion of the juniors’ category after a stellar showing at the final round of Peterborough Motocross Club’s winter series on Sunday.

The Holbeach-based Team TRM rider roared to a treble of wins at the Chatteris track, giving him top spot overall after three rounds of racing.

The youngest of the Rudd riders was always hopeful of clinching the crown, but showed maturity beyond his years to deliver the perfect performance.

Also in action at Chaterris was Kieran’s older brother Ashley Rudd.

Again riding in the adults’ section on a 450 machine, the teenager showed his talent by grabbing the hole shot in race one. He eventually finished fifth in a field of more than 30, before taking eighth place in races two and three.

As he only completed two rounds of the series, he wasn’t eligible for an overall position.

Mark Rudd – who had won all of his six races in the over-35s category – missed the finale due to a broken leg. He was odds-on favourite for the title.
