A host of awards have been dished out to Spalding Town Cricket Club players after two recent presentation nights.
At Town’s annual senior awards night, Ben Smith was recognised as first team player of the year, with young gun Jimmy Hook given the captain’s player gong by skipper Rob Ambrose.
Smith scored 435 runs in 17 matches for Spalding in what ended up being a relegation season in the Lincs ECB Premier League.
Teenager Hook, meanwhile, showed real promise in what was his first full season for the first team in senior cricket. Fellow young gun David Thomas was also given a special mention, having performed admirably as a wicket-keeper/batsman.
For the Spalding Town 2nd side, Jamie Juckes was named player of the season, with Rob Noble the captain’s choice. The special mention in this team went to Matt Sharpe.
Richard Gilbert claimed the Spalding Town 3rd team player of the season award, with Amelie Gardner given the captain’s nod.
The Spading Town ladies’ awards went to Hayley Jones, Gardner and Ellie Stanley, while Patrick Harrington was the club’s young player of the year ahead of Jonny Manton, who also got a special mention.
The Town clubman prize was awarded to Rob Manton.
Meanwhile, a host of Spalding players also won awards at the Regional and Lincolnshire County Junior Presentation evening.
Hook was named county under-16 batsman of the year, while Gardner was under-15 girls’ county player of the season and Harrington was crowned top under-14 county fielder.
Peter Cook was also named regional under-11 batsman of the year, with Harry Biehler-Birch awarded the regional under-10 bowler prize.
