Perfect ten for Moulton Harrox as Crowland are crushed in derby

Merciless Moulton Harrox extended their flawless start to the ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division season to ten games with a 7-0 derby win at Crowland Town.

Saturday’s Snowden Field clash was very one-sided, with Ben Allen (2), Ian Bradbury (2), Ollie Maltby, Joe Townsend and Ryan Wheeler all getting on the scoresheet.

The victory keeps Dave Panton’s Moulton two points clear of Peterborough Sports Reserves at the top – and they have a game in hand.

Panton said: “It was a very dominant performance and I don’t think our keeper had a save to make.

“The discipline was so much better than last week and we were always in complete control. It’s also great to get a clean sheet away from home.

“After a big injury in pre-season and a few games with our reserves Matt Watkin was with us again and played superbly when he came on.

“I thought our defence was so much better this week and Ollie Maltby had his best game for us yet. We are still improving with the festive fixtures only just around the corner.

“I feel for Crowland, as I played all my junior football there. They have got some problems but, considering all that, their hospitality was superb. They were very welcoming and I wish them all the best.

“However it’s great to get our first double win over a team, especially with it being a local derby game.

“We have some huge game coming up but we are looking forward to them and will look to continue improving our performances.”

Harrox: Kenealy, Groves, Johnson, Coddington, Patterson, King (Watkin), Maltby, Allen (L Steadman), Wheeler, Bradbury, Townsend. Not used: Abell.

Sat: Sawtry v Harrox (PFA Senior Cup, 1.30pm).
