Gutted Holbeach United boss apologises after Boston Town battering

Darren Jarvis has issued an apology to everyone associated with Holbeach United after Tuesday night’s dismal 5-0 drubbing at Boston Town.

A slightly under-strength Tigers team warmed up for their huge FA Cup showdown with Worcester City on Saturday in the worst possible manner as they were thrashed by their rivals to end their interest in the Lincs FA Senior Trophy.

The Tigers went into the game on an 11-game unbeaten run, but it all began to go wrong when Richard Ford (44) and Jack Wightwick (45) netted two quick goals before half time.

That became three goals in as many minutes when Matt Kennedy (46) netted in the first minute of the second half, before Simon Ashton (52) and Wightwick again (80) completed the rout.

Jarvis said: “I’ve got to say that I’m totally gutted. It was a real night to forget for us.

“We just didn’t turn up and 5-0 was the scoreline we deserved. Congratulations to Boston Town, though, they thoroughly deserved their win and we wish them well in the competition.

“I really hope the players feel my pain. I’ve told them in no uncertain terms that this isn’t good enough and we’ll leave it at that.

“I can only apologise to the fans and the club and promise that we’ll be back on the ball at the weekend.”

Tigers: Lovelace, Worthington, Ward, Warfield, Jackson, Pinner, Bull, Clitheroe, Thomas (Dougill), Ford (Gosling), Limb.
