A monthly column by Spalding Town Centre Manager Dennis Hannant

Following a successful food festival, we are now looking forward to events leading up to Christmas.

This coming Sunday will see the second visit to the town of the Italian Piazza Market being held on the Sheep Market between 10am and 4pm, and will have 16 speciality stalls selling high quality Mediterranean foods including; freshly made Italian breads, olives, Salumi (cured meats), cheeses, pasta, herbs, chocolates and extra virgin olive oil to name just a few of the items; there will undoubtedly be something for everybody’s taste.

On Friday, October 9, SHDC will be running the very successful and now famous Pumpkin Parade (it’s still the only one held in the UK).

The planning for the Christmas Lights Switch On event on Saturday, November 14 is already on the way, courtesy of Tulip Radio and will again include the Schools’ Choir and Tulip Queen competition.

This is followed on Sunday, November 29 by the Spalding Christmas Market, which is jointly organised by SHDC, Spalding Traders Association and yours truly and we are hoping that it will be bigger and better than last year.

If you are a local trader or stall holder and would like a stall at the Christmas Market, please contact me at the Broad Street Business Centre or call me on 01775 766 729 for an application form or, contact the Market Inspector through the SHDC Help Desk.

The now familiar Hyundai i10 car raffle prize, kindly donated by the EMG Motor Group of Spalding, will be present in the Market Place on most Tuesdays and Saturdays and at other events.

The aim of the raffle is to raise money for the League of Friends of Spalding Hospitals.

Raffle tickets cost £2 each; the winner will be chosen at random during the Christmas Lights Switch On event on November 14.

So if you want the chance of winning a new car for Christmas, please buy a ticket.
