Community event will bring together plans to make Gosberton ‘fabulous’

A £15,000 refurbishment at a village youth club will be unveiled at a community engagement event which it is hoped will be the start of great things.

The recently-formed Gosberton and District Community Action Trust has already secured the funds and carried out the work to overhaul the youth club building, where the floor and roof had collapsed.
It is now due to reopen next week with a fully qualified youth worker in place to lead activities.
The hard-working GCAT committee members are now turning their attention to replacing children’s play equipment in the village and are hoping people will get involved in their great vision for Gosberton.
The community engagement day will be held at the youth club on Saturday, from 2pm to 4pm, when anyone interested can go along and find out more about what GCAT has planned.
This includes big plans for a new community centre, community orchard and allotments, Christmas fair and summer fete.
It has also just launched a patient transport scheme to help people get to doctor and hospital appointments.
GCAT member Annette Ashford said: “Gosberton is already a great community but we want to really give it a heart and make it fabulous.
“We are already looking at buying an empty building and creating a community centre as a focus for the village, but we want everyone’s input on what they think Gosberton needs.
“We are holding the engagement day for people to come along and find out what we are already doing, tell us what they want and hopefully get involved in making it happen.
“If everyone could just volunteer two hours a month or their expertise, Gosberton would be flying.”
