On-site work for Spalding gypsy and traveller site ‘to start by end of 2015’

Construction work for Spalding’s new gypsy and traveller site is expected to begin by the end of this year.

Completion would then be anticipated by March 2016.

Members of South Holland District Council’s performance monitoring panel asked to be updated at its meeting on Wednesday (September 16) after becoming concerned over the delay.
A report said the level of highway work necessary on Drain Bank North had been an issue, but a scheme to resurface rather than rebuild it and provide passing places had now been agreed.
All work is within budget.

The site will be occupied by travellers currently on an unauthorised site at Broad Drove, Gosberton Clough. The council will then take ownership of that land.
