The rain on Saturday ensured that every fixture featuring South Holland’s cricket teams in both the Lincs ECB Premier League and South Lincs and Border League was washed out.
Among the casualties was Spalding Town’s much-anticipated derby with defending Lincs ECB Premier League champions Bourne.
There was some cricket on Sunday, though, with both Seas End Hall and Long Sutton 2nd in Rutland League action.
Seas End were beaten by just two runs in a real Division Four thriller against Kimbolton, having narrowly missed out on fine run chase.
Hosts Kimbolton made 175-9 batting first, with Rory Fenton (62) top scoring. The target would have been higher but for fine spells from both Joe Lyon (4-49) and Patrick Harrington (3-3).
In reply, Dave Venables (45), Lee Eyett (27) and Dave Thomas (36) all scored well at the top of the order – but once they were dismissed the rest were skittled out cheaply, leaving Seas End all out for 173 in the 44th over.
Ben Scpanszski (4-52) and Jonathon Belbin (3-19) did most of the damage with the ball for Kimbolton.
Down in Division Seven, Long Sutton 2nd were given a hefty 149-run beating by Hampton at Paradise Field.
Peter Rowe (102 not out) made a sensation unbeaten century in Hampton’s top tally of 261-5 from 45 overs. He made 14 fours and launched two sixes to really steer the visitors to a dominant position.
Top three Josh Weaver (30), Gareth Clingo (53) and Paul Garrett (63) had earlier built the plaform for Rowe with impressive knocks early in the innings.
Ellie Burton (3-52), Ajay Jinah (1-37) and Ian Morris (1-81) all took wickets, but it was an otherwise tough innings in the field for Sutton.
The home reply kicked off well with Phil Coote (24), Jeremy Smith (13), Peter Moore (30) and James Coote (17) in decent knick up the order.
But Sutton eventually slumped to 112 all out in 40 overs, with nobody else able to reach double figures.
Jarryd Gahan (3-5), AJ McIntyre (3-24) and Gareth Clingo (2-1) did most of the damage with the ball for victorious Hampton.
