Masterclass from Singh

Week seven of the Spalding and District Billiards League, saw what was described as a “masterclass” of top of the table billiards from Steve Singh of Broadway.

He crafted a wonderful 97 break, just falling short of the century, and with three other breaks of 21, 28 and 54, these totalled 200 points.

Quite an achievement from a player who only took up the game about 18 months ago.

His Broadway team picked up their first win of the season with a 7-0 win against Holbeach B, who were in second place, but now drop to third.

Singh (o40) dished out the drubbing to Neil Harvey (r20), who was very complimentary of his opponent’s game.
Wole Akintola (r40), put Broadway two up with a nine-point win over Denis Hix (r40), 200-191.

Picking up his first win of the season was Paul Collicchio (r20) as he defeated Andy Spearman (r70), 200-161.
Broadway still remain at the foot of the table.

Moving in to top position is Donington A, as they remain unbeaten this season, thanks to a 5-2 win over Holbeach A.

Tony Scully (o10) lost his first game of the season against Jason Rose (r20), of Holbeach, 200-158.

Nigel Brasier (r40), brought Donington back level with a 200-83 win against Mick Cooper (o220).

Jim Thompson (r80) took the points for Donington as he enjoyed a 99 points victory over Ben Harding (scr).

Pyramid A remain in fifth place as they lost at home to Services 5-2.

Collecting his first win of the season was Nigel Cherry (r120) for Services with a 200-156 win against John Clapton (r100).

Putting Services two up was Chris Dunmore (r10), just edging out John Twell (r50), 200-184.
Getting the two points for Pyramid was Oli Player (r60) as he won against Vince Fitter (r20), 200-150.

Player knocking in a 33 break in the process.

The local derby between Gosberton B and their A team, saw the B team win 5-2.

Jamie Mumby (r50) put them one up against Des Forbes (r50), running out winner 200-151.

Captain James Parrott (r100) was pleased to get his first win of the season under his belt, albeit by only three points, 200-197 against Shane White.

White just found his form a little bit too late in the frame, but did have breaks of 25, 27, 32 and 37.

But Marcus Pell (o40) for the A team managed a 35-point victory over Keith Lungley (r40), who was making his debut at league billiards, to collect two points for Gosberton A.

The match between Donington B and Pyramid B was cancelled.
