A new sporting facility for Sutton Bridge is to be officially opened on Sunday (October 4).
The new PlayZone in Memorial Park will be able to be booked for a host of sports.
The Lincolnshire FA and Sutton Bridge United have been heavily involved in its creation with funding coming from The Football Foundation, Sutton Bridge Solar Farm, Grange Wind Farm and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
The event is from 1pm to 3pm and there’s the chance to try out free sporting desmonstrations.
The afternoon programme will begin with a five-a-side football session hosted by Sutton Bridge FC followed by a demonstration of football skills from the Long Sutton Athletic U13s team.
The official opening ceremony will take place at 2pm and will include a speech from parish councillor Janette Kirby-Fox.
The event will conclude with a walking netball session led by Louise Key, giving visitors the opportunity to try a different sport in a friendly and inclusive environment.
A spokesman for the organising committee said: “Residents are encouraged to come along, meet local sports groups and make full use of the new PlayZone.
“Whether participants are experienced players or complete beginners, there will be opportunities to get involved, test existing skills or learn something new.”
Claire Smith, the clerk of Long Sutton Parish Council, said: “The new facility will provide a fantastic space for football, basketball, netball and other activities, helping to promote health, wellbeing and community participation.
“The PlayZone will operate through an easy-to-use booking system, with further details on how to register and book sessions being announced shortly.
“Thank you to everyone who has supported this project and for your patience while the final preparations and surfacing are completed. The top coating and lines are due to be laid in the next couple of weeks. The recent weather has proved challenging and we ask that you do not go onto the surface as it is still hardening and could be damaged by use before it is ready.”
