The new season of the Spalding and District Snooker League got underway on Thursday with the top four teams from last season leading the way.
All four – Boundary A, Pyramid C, Pyramid F and Services A – won 5-1.
Boundary A beat newly-promoted Holbeach B, Pyramid C got the better of Gosberton A, Pyramid F saw off Holbeach F, while Services A were victorious against Pyramid D.
Winners for Boundary A were Pete King (scr), Elliott Cox (o7), Steve Smith (r14) and Dan Smith (o35). Shaun Lee (o28) got the point for Holbeach.
A 51 break for Pyramid C’s Spencer Dawkins (o63) wasn’t enough to secure a win over Gosberton A’s Adam Twigg (o14).
Winners for Pyramid were Dave Pearson (o14), Richard Skellett (o21), George Neary-Phillips (o28) and Jason Green (o63).
Division One new boys Holbeach E started well thanks to Phil Coaten (o14) who beat Carl Gibson (o28) but it was downhill from then on with reigning champions Pyramid F taking the next four frames courtesy of Mark Gray (o98), Ian Gibson (scr), Pete Hodgson-Kerry (o28) and Oliver Player (o28).
Services A, who finished third last season, won at home to Pyramid D thanks to Vince Fitter (o42), Phil Spencer (o14) and Jake Haslam twice (o14).
Consti H took on friendly foe Consti G with the G team walking away victors.
The H team started well with wins for Mark German (o21) and Olly Turner (o14) but the G team hit back taking the final three and the win.
Pyramid A got a 4-2 win at home against Services D.
Joely Shears (r7) won the first frame for Services, before Michael Twell (o7) got one back for Pyramid.
Norman Vaughan (o28) put Pyramid in the lead but Ian Smith (scr) then levelled the scoreline.
It was down to Dean Cole (o14) and Russ Morse (scr) to battle it out in the decider, with Cole coming out on top.
Holbeach D got off to winning ways, beating Donington C 4-2.
Their winners were Paul Daw (o21), Shane Cummins (o14) and Denis Hix (scr).
Donington’s Mat Turner (o28) got a 45 break in his win over Andy Spearman (o7).
Holbeach G got their second division campaign off to a good start with a 5-1 in over Boundary B, who were also promoted this season.
Winners for Holbeach, who were Division Three champions last season, were Stu Sullivan (o28), Susan Lefley (r28), Ian Woodberry (scr) and Andy Taylor (scr).
Paul Spittlehouse (o63) got the solitary point for Boundary.
Pyramid E beat Gosberton B 4-2 with wins coming from Stephen Thompson (r7), Jeremy Radford (scr) and Adrian Sharpe (o210.
Simon Slinger (o7) and Stu Ruskin (r7) took the final two frames for Gosberton.
Holbeach C, who were relegated from Division One, started their season with a 4-2 win over Whittlesey A.
Getting the wins for Holbeach were Dan Ashton (scr), Mark Gregory (o35) and Nick Edwards (r14) who took the decider on the black ball.
In an all-Services match, the B team got the better of the C team, winning 4-2.
Jason Rose (o35), Paul Doades (scr) and Jeff Collins (r7) got the points for the winning team.
It’s all about Consti in Division Three with their teams taking five of the six top spots.
Consti B won 4-2 at home to Donington A.
Victories in that one came from John Christian (r14), Martin Fear (scr) and John Keeton (o14).
Winners for Donington were Michael Garfoot (r21) and Jim Thompson (r7).
Consti D got the better of Gosberton C, they took the first three frames courtesy of John Cooper (r28), Darren Stanley (r28) and Geoff Ellingworth (r21) to win 4-2.
Mark Payne (o14) and Stuart Tamplin (scr) got the consolation points for Gosberton.
Consti I were at home to Donington D and their wins came from Pete Stokes (r14) and John Bellerby (r14) twice.
Whittlesey C, who were relegated from Division Two, fell at the hands of Consti J.
Consti took the first two frames before Whittlesey hit back thanks to Gary Thewliss (scr) and Neil Burton (scr).
Jason Bloomfield (o28) took on Stewart Davies (o7) in the decider with Davies winning 58-22.
The only losing Consti team this week was the C team who were beaten away at Donington B 4-2.
Pete Burrell (o7) won the first frame for Donington before Terry George (r14) levelled the scoreline.
Mick Clark (r21) gave Donington the lead again before Mark Craig (r21) made it 2-2.
The deciding match was between Darren Templeman (scr) and Steve Crane (scr) with Templeman winning by a single point.
