Road to open by end of the month

The end might finally be in sight for a road closure which has been causing problems since May.

Anglian Water says it hopes Enterprise Way will be able to re-open at the end of the month after extensive repairs close to the Edison Court junction.

The sink hole opened up in May and both the water company and Lincolnshire County Council had been hoping to have the road operating again towards the end of June.

But that date was put back until July 22 when it remained closed.

In August Anglian Water brought in ground-penetrating radar equipment to get to the bottom of the issue.

“The original issue was caused by a blockage in the public foul sewer which resulted in the wastewater affecting the excavation area.

“While that blockage was cleared, further investigations identified additional issues which required further investigation and repair work.”

This week a spokesman said the work had been finished.

“Work to repair the affected section of sewer at Enterprise Way has now been completed, with teams on site preparing for final reinstatement of the highway and footpath.

“Subject to the remaining works progressing as planned, we expect the road closure to be removed by the end of the month.

“We understand the disruption this has caused and thank residents of Spalding, businesses and road users for their patience while this work is finalised.”
