Plan for new Spalding parish/town council still on table

Plans for a new Spalding Parish Council are still set to go ahead, despite the pause of Local Government Reorganisation (LGR).

Unusually the town does not have its own council and South Holland District Council (SHDC) takes on many of the roles parish or town councils do in other settlements.

Ahead of SHDC’s dissolution due to the LGR, and following a task force being set up, the authority is in the process of creating a Spalding Town Council.

But with the LGR paused a council spokesman said the authority had ‘no plans to change anything regarding a proposed new Spalding Town Council.’
