Spalding road to be re-laid

Motorists have been told to ‘expect brief delays’ as a Spalding is to be re-laid.

Repairs are set to be carried out on Knipe Avenue on Monday to Wednesday of next week (August 24 to 25) ahead of further surfacing work on Wednesday, September 2 and Friday, September 5.

Then ‘post jointing’ work being carried out scheduled for Tuesday, September.

Lincolnshire County Council says a signed diversion will be place though one lane of carriageway will be kept open.

A spokesman said: “Deep excavations may require short periods of full closure, and brief delays should be expected.

“Sections of the road may remain fenced off while fresh material cures to ensure the repairs reach full strength before traffic drives across them.”

Coun David East, executive member for Highways and Transport said: “At around £60,000 for this stretch, our work represents a sizeable investment into the local road network.

“Once completed, road users can expect improved ride quality, better skid resistance and a reduction in traffic noise. The improvements will also help extend the life of the road and support the long-term condition of the local road network.

“This is practical investment that supports safer and more comfortable everyday journeys for the people who live and travel here. We will do everything possible to get these works completed quickly and reduce disruption to a minimum.

“I’d like to thank everyone effected for their patience and understanding whilst we deliver this improvement for Spalding.”
