Sarah’s ready for the rat race

Sarah_L_S_Plymouth_half_marathon_April_27_2014A Spalding mum gave it her all in a half marathon as she put the final touches to her training for a race billed as the “largest assault course on Earth”.

Sarah Le Sage took part in the Plymouth Half Marathon as part of her training for the Burghley Dirty Weekend Rat Race, which takes place this Saturday.

She finished – in the pouring rain – in a creditable time of 1hr 51mins.

She said: “The last mile and a half was quite a climb to Plymouth Hoe and it really slowed me down.

“I was hoping for a personal best, but I did my best and it’s all for a good cause.”

As well as the half marathon, Sarah has been training hard for this weekend’s event at Spalding’s Harpers gym and by running the streets of Spalding.

She also took part in the Grantham Half Marathon, coming in at 1hr 57mins.

It was her first race since giving birth to daughter Ella last August.

Sarah is raising money for the local branch of Action Medical Research, a charity she has supported for a number of years.

She said: “I was hoping to raise around £300 for the charity and have reached £250 so far.

“I like the personal challenge of these events and the camaraderie of everyone taking part.”
