The East Midlands In Bloom judges were literally given a warm welcome to Long Sutton on Monday.
The village’s Bloom committee guided Anne Coppen and Liz Fairfield around as they judged their efforts for the Small Town category of the annual competition.
Chairman of Long Sutton in Bloom, Kay Jenkinson said: “The judges remarked that they were impressed with our little town, the beautiful parks, especially the wonderful owl carving and the Shrubberies Nature Reserve.
“The judges also enjoyed a delightful visit to Rainbow Nursery where maybe they met the Bloomers of the future.
“The town looked lovely thanks to the support from the parish and district councils, Parkway and Long Sutton Civic Society for the super window displays and the library for letting us host our post judging get together.
“The extreme weather has made this a challenging season.
“The results will be announced in September, so fingers crossed.”
