Society’s exhibition

Members of the Spalding Arts and Crafts Society will be celebrating its 110th anniversary with an exhibition on Saturday and Sunday, April 18 and 19.

A host of original artwork will be on display at Springfields Festival Gardens from 10am to 4pm.

The venue and the district of South Holland as a whole is the subject of the exhibition.

A spokesman for the society described it as ‘an exhibition of original artwork by members of the society with archive material to celebrate our 110th anniversary and our 10 year association with the festival gardens’.

“At the show we will be holding raffles to win one of two original paintings, both donated by artists. Tickets are £1 for each painting,” the spokesman continued.

“Many thanks to Springfields Horticultural Society for sponsoring the exhibition as part of their 60th anniversary.”

The society’s next monthly meeting will see a demonstration of watercolour painting using a limited palette by Stephen Martyn.

It’s on Tuesday, April 7, at Pinchbeck Village Hall on Knight Street from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.
Entry is £5 for non members and £3 for members with tea and coffee provided with tea and coffee included. The doors open at 7pm.

The most recent guest was Rutland artists and gallery owner Peter Barker who demonstrated painting in oil a bridge over The River Welland in Duddinton, Northampton shire.
