With just one week left in the Billiards Shield competition, Broadway in Division B hold a two-point lead after playing their four matches.
They await next week’s results to see if they can qualify for the semi finals.
It was a top of the table clash as they hosted Services.
Broadway played the big guns in the shape of Gary Norman and Roxton Chapman.
Norman (o285) took on Phil Spencer (r80) and ran out winner 200-189, achieving five breaks, the best being a 48.
Chapman (o290) was in great form as he put them two up and defeated Nigel Cherry (r75) 200-141, making nine breaks, 80,69 and 60 amongst them.
Steve Singh (o50) completed the maximum 3-0 win with victory over Vince Fitter (r10).
Moving in to second are Consti with a 3-0 home win against Donington A.
John Bellerby (r110) kicked them off with a 200-110 win against Nigel Brasier (r35), Alan Hansard (r70) hit his highest break of the season (33) and beat Ben Wrigglesworth (r20), who also had a 33 break, while Stewart Davies (r45) and Tony Scully (r45) battled out the last frame with Davies walking away the winner.
In Division A, last week’s leaders Donington B suffered their first defeat with a 3-0 loss away at Gosberton, who achieved their first win.
Gosberton’s Marcus Pell (o55) had his best game of the season with six breaks totalling 172 points, the best being a 37 and 33, to defeat Mick Pearl (r20) 200-122.
Shane White (o40) and Neil Reynolds (o50) played the second frame and White was victor 200-134 with breaks of 35, 20 and 20.
Des Forbes (r60) wrapped up a fine night for Gosberton with a seven-point win against Neil Burton (r65).
The other remaining fixture in Division B saw new leaders, as Pyramid B won 2-1 away at Holbeach B, to now lead by just one point.
It was a very close first frame as Maurice Phillipson (r80) for Pyramid won by just four points against Denis Hix (r70).
Neil Harvey (r30) levelled the match with a 200-176 win against Phil Cooke (r105).
Pyramid’s captain Darrell Read (r30) closed out the match against Andy Spearman (r80) 200-186, to give his team a narrow advantage going in to the final week.
