A nine week closure of the main road through Pinchbeck is set to go ahead from January 5.
Burmor Construction has been given the go-ahead to completely shut Surfleet Road between Oldham Drive and Flora Linc for works to include the installation of a new sewer for the 37 home development it is building.
The company claims ‘at least two teams will be on site at all times’ which will avoid an additional six weeks of work.
It says noise restrictions that are part of the planning conditions mean work cannot be carried out 24/7.
A letter sent out to nearby residents states: “While it would have been preferable to undertake the works during a quieter period such as school holidays, through liaison with Lincolnshire County Council, we were made aware that other major schemes are planned on the same route further into Spalding later in the year.
“These include the Spalding Active Travel project and a National Grid cable reinforcement scheme
“Both will require substantial traffic management from spring through autumn and the county council will share further details about these works separately.
“Delaying the Surfleet Road development works would therefore result in even greater cumulative disruption.”
Despite this, Lincolnshire County Council’s timetable of roadworks says permission has also been granted for National Grid to carry out separate works from January 5 to 12 on the road and Oldham Drive.
As well as 175 metres of new sewer, a new footway and street lighting are to be implemented.
Traffic will be diverted along Wardentree Lane and the A152.
Burmor go on to urge residents to contact bus providers about its plans for the routes and says the county council will contact those who use the route for transport to schools.
