Fire at Holbeach pizzeria led to road closure

Holbeach High Street was closed this morning (Monday, December 1) after a fire at a pizzeria.

Firefighters were seen entering Pizza Roma having closed the road off around 7am.

The road opened shortly before 9am.

A statement on Pizza Roma’s Facebook page this afternoon states: “It is with great sadness that we need to inform you about a sudden electrical fault that caused a fire and serious damage in our restaurant.

“The equipment has burned, machines were destroyed… our place — which we have built together with you every single day — has been struck by disaster.

“Due to this unfortunate situation, our pizzeria will remain closed until further notice.

“We have a lot of work ahead: rebuilding, repairs and restoring everything back to its best shape.

“But we will be back. Stronger, better and with even more passion for what we love doing

“We kindly ask for your patience, understanding and for keeping your fingers crossed for us.

“Thank you for being with us — it is because of you that we will rise again.

“We hope that very soon we will welcome you back with delicious pizza, kebabs and smiles.”

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, said: “Three crews from Boston, Long Sutton, and Spalding fire station attended, using four breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish.

“There was significant damage by fire to over half of the kitchen and serving area of the business.

“Fire investigators have completed their investigations and concluded that the cause was an electrical fault within the socket of a cooker in the kitchen area.”
