Windmill is restored to glory

A group of volunteers have helped turn a windmill back to its best.

Those at the Long Sutton Men’s Shed, a group that aims to beat isolation for males, were asked to restore the two metre high construction by Debbie Warner.

It was built by her father Bill Taylor from items found in his garden back in 2004. Since his passing in 2022 it had fallen into disrepair.

The shed members stepped up and have completely rebuilt it.

“It holds much sentimental value for Bill’s wife Janet and has sat in pride of place in Janet’s back garden as a constant and fond reminder of her loving husband,” said Long Sutton Men’s Shed’s Frank Heinrich-Tiller. ” the Men’s Shed took on the considerable task of restoring Bills windmill to its former glory and Janet and family were blown away by the restoration.

“To quote the Sting song – ‘as the images unwind, like the circles that you find in the windmills of your mind.’
