Killer reception for first showing

There was a standing ovation as a locally created series made its big screen debut.

15 and Killing It has been a labour of love for the Holbeach Film Company and director Steph Genovese for a number of years.

Last Friday it was officially shown for the first time at Spalding’s South Holland Centre to rapturous applause.

Steph described the night as ‘unforgettable’ and ‘beyond expectations’.

“From the moment the lights went down to the very last round of applause, the energy in the room was incredible,” he said. “The audience was absolutely brilliant, so open, so engaged, and completely up for the experience.

“The way everyone reacted to the moments on screen, laughing, gasping, holding their breath in the right moments, it was phenomenal.

“To actually feel that connection between the film and the people watching it was truly magical.

“We honestly cannot thank everyone enough.”

Steph said seeing his creation on the big screen particularly highlighted the skills of lead actor Dominique Spinks who plays the titular teen character Casey Adams who becomes a killer.

“I must have watched it a hundred times during production, but Dominique’s performance really stands out on the big screen.

“I’m proud of what she did.

“I’ve had so many amazing messages about the production which is great.

“People really want to know what happens next.

“Hopefully we can continue fulfilling the potential of the project.

“I think ten to 15 years ago it would have been snapped up by TV producers, but it’s now more difficult among the millions of other projects.”
