South Holland’s newest Men’s Shed has found a home and is welcoming all to it, especially ‘blue light workers’.
The PE11 Men’s Shed is currently meeting every Wednesday at the Marjorum Hall in Gosberton Risegate from 2pm to 4pm.
Everyone is welcome, but the group particularly wants to extend a welcome to those who work for the emergency services.
“We want them to pop along, relax, have a chat and grab a cuppa and biscuit,” said secretary Doug Coleman. “At some time, everyone in the group has been grateful to members of the emergency services for their assistance.
“Several have admitted they would possibly not be here today if it wasn’t for the professionalism and kindness shown to them and other members of the public during difficult and stressful times.
Men’s Sheds across the nation promote friendship and men’s wellbeing, offering help both to members and, where possible, assist with other local community projects
PE11 has been learning from the Long Sutton Men’s Shed group to build their own version for those in and around Spalding.
While delighted to get a permanent home, they would like to find somewhere for storage space.
Members are also trying to find a 20ft container or lorry body, preferably insulated, for storage of equipment.
“We’ve been quoted full market price,” said Mr Coleman. “Every penny we have has either been through donations for work undertaken, or in-house fund raising.”
