Group’s bid for a ‘community hub’

One of the oldest theatre groups in the country has a new home that it is looking to turn into a hub for arts in the district.

The Spalding Amateur Dramatic and Operatic Society (SADOS) is now based in St Margaret’s Hall, Quadring.

It already has a stage which group members have got ready for its first show ‘Back To Broadway’ on Friday and Saturday, August 1 and 2.

A theatre group in Stamford has loaned them lights and members have carried out their own work to ensure the show goes on.

But the group is looking to make more long term improvements including installing new electrical systems, building lighting and sound booths, creating dedicated dressing rooms and making storage space

“These enhancements will transform the hall into a dynamic, versatile and fully functional performance venue,” a spokesman said. “It will also serve as a welcoming and flexible space for parties, meetings and a whole variety of community group activities.

Initially SADOS is looking to raise £30,000.

“We are actively seeking sponsorship and financial support from a range of sources,” the spokesman continued.

“We understand that funds are always in high demand, but we are committed to making this project a reality, step by step.

“If you are able to contribute in any way – through funding, donations, or sponsorship just get in touch by email at [email protected].

“Together, we can create a vibrant cultural and community hub for everyone to enjoy.”
