Spalding let hosts off the hook

Spalding sit one place above the drop zone after slipping to their third defeat in their opening four Lincolnshire Board Premier League matches.

Hosts Woodhall Spa posted 236/9 and then sent Spalding packing for 167.

The home side were rocking at 11/2 thanks to wickets for Harsh Bhandari (2-35) and Nilanthan Atapattu (1-35) but Spalding failed to keep the pressure on as the runs flowed freely with their opponents romping to 148/4.

Walter Kinlock (3-33) and Josh Lawrence (2-60) slowed the run rate but Woodhall saw out their overs on 236/9.

After losing opener Jon Manton for three, captain Ollie Dring (33) and Lawrence (59) put on 65 but from 99/2, the visitors slipped to 110/5 and were all out for 167 with Matt Carter a thorn in their side, taking 5-31.
