‘Royal’ approval for village parade

There was a surfeit of royalty at this year’s Moulton Chapel Tuliptime parade at the weekend.

Alongside the village’s own prince and princess were the queen and deputy from the Spalding Flower Parade which takes place this weekend.

Doctor Who also made an appearance at the village’s annual event which held its 48th parade and celebrates the area’s strong links to the tulip industry.

A range of activities were on offer, with floats and vintage tractors joining the parade. The annual scarecrow festival was held in the churchyard at St James’.

“It was an amazing event and went really well – it was packed,” said secretary Rebecca Pearce.

She added that more volunteers were welcome to help the 49th and 50th events. Email moultonchapelparade@outlook.com

The Bourne Borderers morris team brought a touch of tradition to the day and there was also a poetry reading in tribute to Benjamin Zephaniah, who died in December 2023.
