Stalls raise thousands for charity

A Spalding woman who hosts fundraising events in the Johnson Hospital has donated more than £3,000 to Alzheimer’s Research UK.

June Wright’s husband Don has the condition and together they presented £3,394 to the charity after a year of bi-weekly tombolas and bric-a-brac stalls.

“I knew I wanted to do something about this terrible disease that devastates so many people’s lives,” said June, who thanked everyone who has supported her.

“I got in touch with Alzheimer’s Research UK last year and have been raising awareness and funds since.
“We hold a stall at the hospital bi-weekly raising money,” said June.

“I couldn’t do this without the incredible support of my local community. A special thanks to the hospital for allowing us to use the entrance.”

The charity’s regional fundraising officer, Zoe Dean, said: “We are so grateful to June, Don and the wider community of Spalding for supporting Alzheimer’s Research UK. If nothing changes, one in two of us will be directly affected by dementia, either caring for someone or developing it ourselves, or both.”
