Gosberton A keep up heat

Gosberton A edged nearer to top spot in Division Two in Spalding and District Snooker League.

They returned from Holbeach A with five points, thanks to wins for Adam Twigg (o7), Alan Jackson (scr), Carl Wand (o7) and Jamie Mumby (o21). Only Geoff Wand (r14) missed out for second-placed Gosberton A, Derek Beba (r7)grabbing the home side’s solitary win.
Gosberton A closed the gap to four points on league leaders Boundary A, who recovered from defeat the previous week to see off Holbeach F 4-2.
The table-toppers’ Tim Burrows (r7) edged out Dan Mayfield (o28) on the black ball after Mayfield had made a fight of the handicap deficit with a 25 break.
Meanwhile, Holbeach E did their outside chances of winning the league no harm with a 5-1 win at Consti F. Stand-out wins came from James Crampton (o7), who beat Robert Adams (o14) 77-27, and Richard Parker (scr), who comfortably saw off Martyn Stanley (r14) by 61-17.
Consti B increased the gap between themselves and the two teams at the foot of the table by beating bottom side Consti I 4-2. It had looked an unlikely result after two games, with Jonathan Smith (r21) and John Bellerby (r7) putting Consti I in control.
But Mick Johnson (o21) knows more than a thing or two about pulling out important wins and his 68-61 defeat of Phil Tweddell (r7) paved the way for team-mates John Pike and John Keeton to go on and grab the lion’s share of the match points for Consti B.
Up in Division One, a 33 clearance by Mark Gregory (o28) set the seal on a 97-17 defeat of James Sharpe as Holbeach C beat Pyramid D 4-2. Holbeach C had been squeezed out in the first two frames on the black ball. Firstly, Reegan Cooke-Holmes (o21)completed a 25 clearance and then Ryan Burton (scr) saw off Terry West (r7) by a single point.
Donington C maintained the pressure on league leaders Consti E with a 5-1 home win.
Mick Pearl (o21) set them on their way with a 27 clearance to win a tight opening game against Pyramid C’s George Neary-Phillips (o21). Further wins for Neil Favell (o14), Neil Reynolds (o63)and Mat Turner (o28) sealed Donington C’s victory. Ben Wrigglesworth (o35) was their only defeated player, missing out on the black ball to Jason Green (o56).
