New sessions at a Spalding pub in memory of a past patron proved a success.
The first ‘Angus McPherson Wind Back Wednesday’ took place at The Ivy Wall, with community groups in attendance to showcase what support is available to members of the community who may feel isolated or lonely.
Coun Mark Le Sage, co-founder and organiser of the town event, said: “It was an excellent forum and opportunity to support those people in our community who for whatever reason struggle with loneliness.
“Social interaction, meeting people and talking to those community members in a similar situation can help to formulate new friendships which can support your mental health and wellbeing.
“I’d like to personally thank the community groups and teams that were able to attend as well as the staff at The Ivy Wall for all their help on the day.”
The weekly coffee morning will take place each Wednesday from 9am to 11am.
Mr McPherson died in October at the age of 70, and had met with friends regularly at the Ivy Wall and the group, supported each other.
A plaque has gone up in the pub in honour of the former PE teacher, who was married with two children.
