Top two teams lose ground in race for champions title

Last week’s top two teams in Division One of the Spalding and District Snooker League lost ground on Thursday night.

Consti E are holding on to the top spot, despite losing 4-2 away to Pyramid C.
George Neary-Phillips (o21), Spencer Dawkins (o56) and Dave Pearson (o14) took the first three frames and the win for Pyramid, who sit in fifth place.
Services A, who were second last week, are now in fourth, after a 6-0 whitewash away to Pyramid D.
Peter Sharpe-Grose (r14), Reegan Cooke-Holmes (o21), James Sharpe (o49), Josh Agger (o21) and Ryan Burton (scr) were the successful team.
Donington C have moved up to second, thanks to a 4-2 win over third-placed Services C.
Lee Hempsall (o14) and Mick Pearl (o21) got Donington off to a winning start, beating Geoff Hemsil (r14) and Shane Cummins (o21) respectively, before Kevin Fitter (o7) and Jordan Philpott (r7) took the next two, levelling the scoreline.
It was down to Nigel Cherry (scr) and Matt Turner (o28) to battle it out for the win, with Turner coming out on top 87-60. Breaks of 30 and 22 helped him along the way.
Consti G moved up two places to sixth after a 4-2 win away at Holbeach D.
Joe Garland (scr), Darren Woodberry (o35) and Martin Deacon (o14) were the winners for Consti.
In a bottom-of-the-table clash Consti H got the better of Pyramid A, beating them 5-1.
Seb Grimston (o28), Olly Turner (o7), Mark German (o28) and Doug Garfoot (o28) got the wins for Consti, moving them into third-from-bottom.
It’s as you were for the top three teams in Division Two.
Boundary A remain in first place, despite a 4-2 loss away to Consti B.
Martin Fear (o7) got Consti off to a great start with a 67-10 win over Daniel Smith (o21), before John Christian (scr) made it 2-0, beating Elliott Cox (r7).
Andy Mowforth (scr) and Tim Burrows (r7) took the next two frames respectively, equalling the scoreline and leaving it to John Keeton (o7) to outplay John Tidswell (o21) for the win.
Gosberton A have closed the gap at the top by two points with a 4-2 victory over Consti F.
Carl Wand (o7), Andy Adair (r14) and Jamie Mumby (o21) got the wins for Gosberton.
Holbeach A are still in third, although they lost 5-1 to Services D.
Alan Day (r21), Kevin Robbs (r7), Ian Smith (scr) and Richard Neal (r21) were the winners for Services, before Steve Dent (scr) took the final frame and a solitary point for Holbeach.
A 6-0 win for Holbeach E has moved them up to fifth in the standings.
The winning team consisted of Chris Leary (o28), Richard Parkes (scr), Ethan Lawrence (r14), James Crampton (o7) and Rob Cotten (r14).
Holbeach F have dropped down the table to tenth. They lost 5-1 to Donington A, whose winners were John George (o7), Kevin Hawes (o7), Glenn Ryan (o21) and Tony Scully (o42). Holbeach’s only winner was James Quinton (o7), who got the better of Nigel Brasier (o28).
Whittlesey C had a good 5-1 win over Consti I.
Jonathan Smith (r21) got Consti off to a good start, but it was downhill from there as Gary Thewliss (scr), Paul Cook (o21), Simon Parker (o7) and Jason Bloomfield (o28) won the remaining frames for Whittlesey.
A 4-2 win has boosted Whittlesey A into first place in Division Three.
They got the better of Donington D, thanks to wins from Jason Clarke (o14), Lance Clarke (r14) and Steve Jennings (o35).
Gosberton D have fallen from first to third, after they were whitewashed by Consti C 6-0.
Getting the wins for Consti were John Walker (r28), Dave Banister (o7), Steve Crane (scr), Mark Craig (r14) and Kevin Sweeney (r7).
Pyramid B also got a 6-0 win, moving them up to second place.
They beat Gosberton B thanks to victories from Roy Jackson (r14), Philip Cooke (r7), Dennis Pearson (scr), Carl Kelham (r7) and Richard Clark (o7).
Gosberton C are still firmly at the bottom of the table, after suffering a 6-0 loss away to Donington B.
Winners were Pete Burrell (o7), Phil Burrell (r7), Gav Lewis (o7), Paul Stewart (o7) and Mick Clark (r14).
Consti A got the better of friendly foe Consti J, beating them 4-2.
Adam Braybrook (scr) got the J team off to a good start, beating Bill Prosser (o7), before Paul Kent (r7) took the next frame for Consti A.
Nigel Steadman (scr) and Wayne Wilding (o7) won the next two frames giving the A team victory, before Stewart Davies (o14) beat Martin Johnson (r21) on the black in the final frame.
Boundary B got a good 5-1 win over Whittlesey B, thanks to wins from Rich Wilson (o7), Mick Goddard (o7), Paul Spittlehouse (o56) and Dougy Lythgoe (o14).
Results: Division One – Consti H 5 Pyramid A 1, Holbeach D 2 Consti G 4, Services C 2 Donington C 4, Pyramid C 4 Consti E 2, Pyramid D 6 Services A 0.
Division Two – Consti I 1 Whittlesey C 5, Donington A 5 Holbeach F 1, Holbeach E 6 Services B 0, Services D 5 Holbeach A 1, Gosberton A 4 Consti F 2, Consti B 4 Boundary A 2.
