An app to promote Holbeach has been shelved until at least next year.
An ‘augmented reality’ tour of the town was in production at the end of 2023.
Lincolnshire County Council announced last January that Holbeach and Mablethorpe would both have apps created as part of a ‘year’s trial’ after receiving a £3,000 grant.
It was part of a town centre improvement strategy working in partnership with the University of Lincoln.
County councillor for Holbeach Tracey Carter, said filming for the Holbeach app, which is to focus on local businesses, had already started when The Voice reported it was in the works last January.
Recently an update on the apps was made to Lincolnshire County Council’s Environment and Economy Scrutiny Partnership.
However the talk by Mandy Ramm, funding and investment manager at Lincolnshire County Council, only mentioned the Mablethorpe app.
Coun Tom Ashton raised the fact Holbeach hadn’t been mentioned.
“We hope to work again with South Holland District Council,” Ms Ramm responded. “That has a different approach to the Hidden Histories app being delivered in Mablethorpe.
“It’s more a business directory and we need that intelligence on the ground to pull that together.
“We deliberately piloted two different approaches, one business generated, owned and updated and the other was more around the training and engaging with the local community.
“In terms of the business one we’re looking to support that but it may be next year before that comes out.”
