A number of local people were given two days of training to help those with mental health issues in South Holland.
Pinchbeck Community Hub hosted Shine Lincolnshire’s Mental Health First Aid Training sessions funded by NHS Charities Together.
There were 15 people who completed the course including volunteers from The Hub and local people from health, social care, local voluntary groups and charities.
Ian Tomlinson, training and development manager at Shine Lincolnshire who delivered the training, said: “It was a rewarding two days working with people who are passionate about mental health.
“The cohort engaged throughout and will take their skills forward in both their roles and personal lives.
“The Pinchbeck Hub is an ideal venue at the heart of the local community it serves.
“It is accessible and provides a safe and welcoming space.”
Lisa Atkinson, who is a volunteer at The Hub, said: “I attended the training because I wanted to learn more about mental health and how to help others.
“It was very helpful, and it opened my mind and taught me how to have the skills to support others.”
Pinchbeck Parish Councillor John Smith added: “We are delighted to have hosted this event and to have helped Shine Lincolnshire to deliver their exceptional training.
“The course was advertised locally, and we had almost twice as many applicants as places which shows just how much need there is for this training.
“With Shine’s help we are hopeful we can secure further funding to deliver another course in the near future.”
