Chesney wows at Boobie Ball

A charity ball, now in its third year, has raised more than £56,000 in total and this year saw a special guest.

The third Boobie Ball, held at the end of September, saw ball goers entertained by the one and only Chesney Hawkes.
The Boobie Ball started in September 2019 following Tina Rowe’s cancer diagnosis the previous year.
Tina’s friends asked her what she would like to do to help her focus on getting better and she wanted to hold a fundraising charity ball to help give something back.
The first Boobie Ball raised £17,308.27 which was split between with Breast Cancer Now and Prostate Cancer UK.
The second event raised £18,150, split between Breast Cancer Now and The Teenage Cancer Trust.
This year, The Boobie Ball raised a staggering £20,555.25.
On the night £16,591.45 was raised, with the additional £3963.80 coming from The Boobie Ball team doing a three-hour Zumbathon. Also, Will Lakey took part in a charity boxing event.
This year, the chosen charities are Breast Cancer Now and Papyrus – The Prevention of Young Suicide as the team lost a special person to suicide the same year as Tina’s cancer diagnosis.
Tina said: “We never just want to raise money, we also make a big effort in raising awareness. So much so, that since 2019, I’ve been contacted by four people who found a change within their breast, acted on it, and either got the all clear or was diagnosed and treated.”
The disco was hosted by Paul Crawley of Dex ‘N’ F-ex, while entertainment was Chesney Hawkes.
Tina added: “I can’t put into words how amazing the atmosphere was when I introduced Chesney to the stage as he had been kept secret.
“He has since sent me a message to say he had the best time, loved the people of Spalding and would love to return one day.”
