£70k festive lights

Spalding town centre is set to be bursting with festive cheer this year thanks to a £70,000 investment in Christmas lights.
South Holland District Council and Spalding Town Board announced the move on Tuesday afternoon.
The new displays are designed to last for ten years and will stretch across the town cenre and Market Place along Francis Street and the Hole in the Wall into The Crescent.
“We know there is a lot of work to take place over the coming months and years to get Spalding to the place we aspire for it to be, and this covers a much wider variety of topics and issues than Christmas lights alone,” said Coun Gary Taylor.
The chair of Spalding Town Board Robin Hancox said it was committed to ‘make a difference for the town.’
“Funding for the Christmas lights is just one small but significant way in which we can add to the town centre’s appeal,” he said.
The big switch on will take place on Saturday, November 30.
