Brazen theft from Moulton of John Deere tractors and cultivator worth £68,500

Two tractors and a cultivator worth £68,500 have been stolen from a Moulton farm.

The John Deere 6830 models – one of which was still coupled to a cultivator – were brazenly driven away from bulb growers F Dring and Sons in High Road between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Managing director Richard Barlow said his wife heard a noise at about 3am, which they now believe to be the thieves at work.
One of the tractors was stored in an open shed and the other was in the yard. Mr Barlow said both were locked.
A trailer was uncoupled from one of the tractors. The other still had a flat-lift three leg cultivator – worth £8,500 – attached.

“They must have been on site some time,” said Mr Barlow.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if the cultivator was dumped fairly nearby.”

One of the John Deere vehicles – bearing the registration plate FX09 CXE was worth £35,000 – and the other – FJ08 HJX – was worth £25,000.
Mr Barlow said both tractors were marked with SmartWater and had data tags, which would help them be returned if they are traced.
He is planning to hire in replacements for the time being.

Police said the theft was reported at 7.40am on Sunday. Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting incident 115 of March 22.
