Charity turning up the heat

An initiative that provides a full weekly meal for those that need it has a new cooker and is looking to hear from anyone who may be able to help them.

Hub In Hub Out is part of St Norbert’s Catholic Church’s Project St Thomas and for the last few years volunteers have served up a hearty three course Sunday meal.
There were concerns over its future with its cooker in desperate need of an upgrade.
But at the initiative of James Le Sage, he and other councillors have chipped in from their ward budgets to purchase a new cooker.
Now though Hub In Hub Out would also like to hear from anyone who may want to volunteer or business and organisations that could provide sponsorship.
Coun Le Sage, said: “‘Hub In Hub Out do a great job in providing support not only in the St John’s ward but across the wider South Holland area.
“Those in need are welcomed on a Sunday from 12pm to 2pm for a three course meal staffed and cooked entirely by volunteers.
‘I would like to thank all those councillors that contributed from their budgets to help when the existing cooker was way past its best.
“It just goes to show that when we work together we can do good things and help the wider community.
“I would also like to thank those volunteers that continue to give their time for this good cause.”
Hub In Hub Out volunteers are now looking to get uniforms for their work and are on the lookout for potential sponsors.
‘The volunteers do an amazing job and give their time freely,” Coun Le Sage continued. “Recently they asked me if I could help in any way to get new uniforms for those that volunteer.
“I would love to hear from any local company possibly in the fresh produce market or in the food supply chain business that would like to sponsor the new uniforms to include embroidered logos of the sponsoring company and of course our own.”
