Improvements to Spalding traffic management ‘2016/17 at earliest’

Changes to improve Spalding’s traffic management will not take place until next year at the earliest.

Alterations to traffic light sequences, pedestrian crossings and new roundabouts are all measures which have been touted to improve flow in hotpsot areas such as Station Approach and Winsover Road.

However, Spalding Town Forum heard from Lincolnshire County Council Highways that the first junctions would only be tackled in 2016/17.

Exasperated chairman Coun George Aley said: “They don’t seem to understand that we need something doing not tomorrow, but next week. There doesn’t seem to be the willing to do anything at the moment.”

Coun Christine Lawton added: “They have got too many strategies, too many traffic lights and not enough common sense.”
