Crowland anniversary run brings in record numbers

A record number of runners and volunteers turned up to mark the fifth anniversary of the Snowden Field Parkrun at Crowland on Saturday.

The previous record of 136 runners and 30 volunteers was smashed, with 197 finishers and 43 volunteers assisting at the venue’s 172nd event.
Among those taking part in the 5K run were 10 members of Spalding-based Halmer Harriers, including a mixture of Snowden Field veterans and newbies.
The first to finish was Richard Williams, 15th in 23 minutes and 37 seconds.
Adam Caress crossed the line 23rd in a time of 25:02 to complete his 196th overall run at 92nd at Crowland.
At the other extreme, it was the first time at the venue for Daniel Hollis, who was 48th in 25:54.
Kate Boulton clocked a personal best time of 31:43 for 111th place, five ahead of Janet Strickland, who completed the event in 32:02, her 153rd run in total and 58th at Crowland
Other Harriers were: 118 Deborah Preston, 32:06; 121 Tim Baxter, 32:28; 172 Katherine Baxter, 44:29 PB; 173 Jayne Pell, 44:29; and 178 Kathryn Chapman, 47:46, in her 75th Parkrun, albeit only her second running of the Snowden Field event.
