Holbeach United manager Danny Clifton to step down

Holbeach United manager Danny Clifton has announced he is to step down at the end of the season.

The Tigers’ play off hopes ended this week and with two games to go, Clifton has said he will leave his position at the end of the season due to ‘circumstances outside of football’.

Clifton though says he will continue to have a role with the club he’s ‘fell in love with’.

“It was an extremely difficult decision to make as I have fell in love with the club.

“Whoever takes on the role has an extremely exciting project and I will be on hand to assist where I can.

“This club has huge potential, a great foundation to build on and excellent people around it.

“I sincerely thank everyone for the support that I’ve had. It’s been first class.”

A statement from Holbeach United said: “Unfortunately the club can announce that first team manager Danny Clifton will be stepping down at the end of the season.

“Circumstances outside of football is the reason for his decision and we are pleased he will remain in the club in some capacity.

“We thank Danny for his efforts, the rebuilding he has undertook and his conduct in and around the club with the wider Tigers team over the pas two and a half years.

“The process has begun within the club to look at appointing a new first team manager and we will keep everyone updated in due course.”
