Bethan is top of the chop

A nine-year-old has raised hundreds of pounds for charity after having 14 inches chopped from her hair.

Bethan Wilson took on the cut to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust and National Multiple Sclerosis Society with the hair going to the Little Princess Trust to be turned into a wig for a young person who has lost their hair due to ill health.
She did so in memory of her nanny Julie Flowers who died after problems with MS aged 57 in 2021 and aunt Louise Miers (who Bethan called Scooby) who died aged 25 in 2017.
Bethan had the cut at Strands in Spalding on Saturday and has so far raised over £800.
Her mum Emma said: “When we posted the hair later that afternoon, Bethan said she had a really good feeling inside after doing it.
“She asked if I knew what she meant and I said that’s what feeling proud feels like.
“She’s absolutely over the moon at how much she has raised.
“She loves her new hair cut but it’s still surprising her each morning when she wakes up.
“It takes her a second to realise where it’s all gone!
“I felt so proud that she wanted to do something so kind for someone else who is probably going through an incredibly difficult time in their life.
“To then support two other charities as well is wonderful.
“Bethan has faced so much loss in her little life yet is constantly thinking of others.
“She really does have a heart of gold!”
