LETTER: Sorry to see Mann’s shop is closing

Regarding your report (Thursday, January 15, page 11) Mann’s to close after 104 years of trading in our town.

Firstly Mann and Son in Hall Place will be sadly missed as one of the top quality retailers in menswear for the local area and beyond.

I have supported this great little outlet for many years and Nigel Mann, along with his sales team, has provided the town with a first class service over the decades.

Yes, even I can remember Nigel’s father serving me in my school days for my Gleed School uniform for my first year in Godric House – Blue.

The shop has been one of those individual outlets that enhances our market town and gives it that special character along with other aspects of our town.

The whole sales team have been very friendly and that special customer relationship has been instilled into the general day to day running of the business.

If you could not find what you were looking for, Nigel would always try and get it through his supply chain of quality menswear providers, something that you would not even get from some of the bigger outlets in other towns.

Secondly, as a regular customer I have become more of a friend to Joy and Nigel over the years.

Although it will be a sorry day when the doors close, I am sure another one will open for the couple.

Their interest in classic vehicles will keep them busy over the years to come.

So although I am sorry to see them go as a business, I wish the couple a very long and happy retirement.

Rodney Sadd,
one of many satisfied customers.
